Swimming in the Black Sea

Kerch is on the Black Sea. We have been taking advantage of it being so close. We can walk from our apartment to two places to swim. Oleg likes to swim almost every day. My favorite of the two closest places costs a little over $6 to swim. There are cement enclosures that look like pools but it is sea water running in and out, complete with seaweed and jelly fish! I like it there because there are chairs, things for Oleg to jump off of, and a good ladder for those of us that like to get in gently. :-)  One day this week there were large jelly fish around so I didn't last too long in the water.

We can also go 25 minutes on a bus to get to a real beach. That is my favorite place to swim, once we get passed the seaweed. There were women walking up and down the beach selling baklava and corn on the cob. We decided on ice cream.

The Black Sea is a lot gentler than the Atlantic Ocean. There are waves, but small ones. It is salty, but not as salty as the ocean. It is very beautiful.
