Sorry it has been a while since we posted. We have had a busy time the last few days. A mission team of 4 from Kentucky stayed at our facilitators apartment one night before going back to the states. We met them at the International Church in Kiev. It was great to go to worship and hear a good teaching in English. After church we went sightseeing in Kiev and then came back to the apartment and had pizza delivered for dinner. It was fun getting to know the people on the team. They had been at an orphanage ministering to the kids.
Yesterday we met Tim and Christina Emerson and their two cute kids in town. They are missionaries from our church. We had lunch at TGI Fridays and then spent the rest of our time together walking around the city more. It was great to see them! After they left to go back home we met up with our facilitator and another couple that is adopting for some shopping and then headed back to the apartment.
Today we had our final appointment at the adoption center. It went very well. We will pick up or referral to go see Oleg tomorrow and will board a train to Kerch. If all goes well, we will spend almost all of the rest of our time in Kerch. If Oleg says yes to the adoption we will spend time with him almost every day, work on paperwork, and wait for a court hearing. We will keep you posted!

ReplyDeleteDear Darwin and Pat,
ReplyDeleteNancy just let me know about your blog, and I'm thrilled to be able to share now in how things are going. It's been SO hard not having a clue about what's been happening!!!! As for Anya not wanting to return with you, I'm sure you're beyond disappointed, because you had been imagining a specific scenario for several years, and worked so hard to achieve it. I believe that Anya was the instigator to start you on an adoption path that will result with you being paired with a child who needs you far more. My reaction as I was reading the early messages was that The Universe has a plan, it just may take a while for it to be revealed, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it involved a younger child, very possibly a boy. That was the information I kept receiving. Go younger in age and change to a boy. At first that seemed confusing, SO totally different from the plan you've had for so long, but perhaps it would be easier for a younger child to start a new life in America and not miss his birth country so much. And I think boys are more accepting of change. And then I kept reading and reached the info on Oleg. Yay! I have all my fingers and toes crossed, and I deeply admire you for being able to operate from a level of such faith, love, and selflessness. My love and thoughts are with you constantly!
